Louis Waldon
In celebration of the
Andy Warhol Retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles May 25 thru August
18, 2002, Warhol Superstar and former Factory member
Louis Waldon came
out of retirement to produce this
unique collector's edition, using the same materials and following the same silkscreen
techniques as used in the
Factory.
As a long time contributor and
supporter of the Los Angeles art community, Louis Waldon is producing this
series of classic Warhol images from the Superstar years.
The artists working with Louis on
this series are all based
in Los Angeles. They all have a common appreciation of Andy Warhol and his
contribution to the World of contemporary art. Andy was a brilliant artist
and visionary who understood America's obsessions with fame, notoriety,
voyeurism and consumerism. His insight was equaled only by his sense of
irony. Inspired greatly by Marcel Duchamp, he transformed the familiar
into art. Unlike Duchamp, who never liked to repeat himself, Warhol was obsessed
with repeating and replicating images. Louis uses the same techniques that Warhol used in the Factory during the sixties. All the works are limited
editions of 100. They are numbered and stamped "Andy Warhol Superstar Years 66
to 69" and signed by
Louis Waldon.
